Vintage Christmas at Craftymess Challenge Blog

Our new challenge has been set over at  http://craftymesschallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/
The theme this time around is "Vintage Christmas" which was chosen by my teamie Rebecca. I just love traditional christmas images, so I set to and made this Tag as my make for the design team.
The challenge is set to run until 28th December, giving everyone (hopefully) a bit more time to enter the challenge, ideally I would love to see a few more than we did for our last challenge....many more low entries like that and I may have to consider if I want to keep the blog running.....so fingers crossed for a bumper crop of entries.
There will be 2 Winners  as we are running this challenge for 4 weeks, there will also be a Top 6

The prizes for the winners are a £10 voucher to spend at the emblies store here....
  http://www.crafty-emblies.org/

and the other prize is from myself (Sandie)...a rather nice set of Embossed Cards, matching Toppers and Matching Stamps
So please pop along and have a lookie and maybe enter our challenge, you may enter up to 6 times....you never know, you could be one of our winners!

My DT. Piece

Well,it's that time again...the new challenge has been set over at  http://crafty-emblies.blogspot.co.uk/ The theme this month, chosen by teamie Angela was originally "Toybox" but has been tweaked to include"Toy or  Box as well as Toybox"
For my DT piece I used an old stamp block, I do enjoy altering these, I painted the block before adding toy theme newspaper adverts from a 12" x 12" sheet of scrapbook paper. Then I added several single girlie toy adverts, that I had mounted on some card. The leather strip was from my stash as was the flower. The pram, which is just fabulous is from Crafty-Emblies ( I chose to leave it in its original colour) Finally I added the triangle top and the feet for the block.
Why not pop over and have a look at the challenge, there is a fabby prize of £10 to spend at Crafty-Emblies and with their reasonable prices you can get an awful lot of emblies for that. The challenge runs for a whole month and you can enter it more than once.

Another Twinchie for the Challenge

Just a quickie post this morning...I've not had internet for the last 3 evenings, so it sort of messed up me being able to post. I have connection this morning, so I'm quickly popping this Twinchie on. This one is for the Traditional Christmas Colours over at   http://twinchie-twinchiehotmaillive.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/challenge-11-traditional-christmas_2529.html  This is such a sweet stamp, think I paid 50p for it many moons ago. I stamped it on to the white background and then coloured it using a damp brush and distress ink pads. The edge of the twinchie I heat embossed some silver sparkle embossing powder, just to give it a little bit of a christmas feel.

Christmas Girl Twinchie

2 posts in one day,whatever next,lol.
Here's a Twinchie I made this afternoon for the challenge over at  http://twinchie-twinchiehotmaillive.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/challenge-11-traditional-christmas_2529.html  in fact I have made 2 twinchies, so will post the other one tomorrow. The theme is a good one, we have to use traditional christmas colours, not that simple on a 2" x 2" square, lol. My colours are Red, White, Green and Gold. I coloured the image with a damp paint brush and distress ink pads...the berries have a small bit of stickles on them, unfortunately it's not showing up very well in the photo.

( waving to my friend Jenny in Ireland....x )

A Pink & Gold Embossed Atc.

It's been a while since I've blogged, don't ask me where the time has gone,because I don't know,lol.
Here is an atc I made this morning as my entry for the challenge over at   http://funwithatcs.blogspot.co.uk/
The theme is "Embossing" so I thought I would take up the challenge. First I used distress ink to colour the card pink, then stamped the background. I then heated embossed the edges of the atc. For the main part of the atc I used one of the Tando arches, inking up the centre piece before stamping the fabby image by Lynne Perrella. For the frame of the arch I used a darker shade of ink to colour it, heat embossed 3 times, then while it was still warm I sprinkled some gold embossing powder on the frame ,tapped off the surplus and heated it up.
I'm also going to pop this atc in to the craft group I am in on facebook, we have a daily challenge over there and todays theme is to make anything and be pink....ok,so mine is pink and gold, lol.

Just a couple of Bits.

A flying visit, just to post a couple of things I made last week for the Daily Challenge in the Craftymess Group I am in.
The little book was for the theme "Alter or make a Book" and the Tag was for the theme,"Use some Lace's"
The book is made up from 3" x 3" board and covered in the fabulous Graphic45 papers. On some of the pages I have made pockets to hold the tags.
Again for the 2nd piece I used some of the Graphic45 papers, they are so delicious, but if I continue to stroke them I shall end up removing all the print...so I've started to use them, lol. For this tag I used 2 types of lace and one of my fabby stick pins I made myself.

Seasonal Atcs

We are still in the month of November, but in the crafting world we start our christmas crafting early. Not that I am making any christmas cards,I've not done that for a few years now....but the Atc swap I run over in the Craftymess Group on Facebook is all about Christmas this month. So these are my 3 swaps.
I deliberately chose to use these stamps as I wanted to be able to colour them in,although I'm not a lover of colouring,I don't mind painting, which is what I did.
After ageing the atc with old paper distress ink, I stamped the image, then highlighted areas using a damp brush and picking up ink directly off of the distress ink pads. Finally I aged the atc around the edges in tea stain distress ink....I'm quite pleased with them, so much so I'm making another 3 of each design for a new swap group that I have just joined.

I want to Thank all of you that pop in to my blog and leave me such lovely comments...I appreciate your visit and love all your comments....xx

Sweet Little Twinchie

This is my 3rd entry in to the challenge over at....http://twinchie-twinchiehotmaillive.blogspot.co.uk/....I have used a stamp that I bought at the Range,it was a cheapie and must have been part of a design set,or kit. However it was sitting all on it's own with a price on it, so I couldn't just leave it there could I ?
I have only used part of the stamp for the image, I used distress ink to colour the twinchie, then with a damp paint brush that I swiped over the same ink pad,I highlighted some parts of the image. I'm pleased with the way it turned out, especially the actual image, for such a cheap stamp too, lol.
Below is a pic of the ink I used...I apologise for such a bad photo, one minute the sky is bright, the next it's gone so dark,I have to put the lights on, it really plays havoc with indoor photos, even with the flash facility!

Atc with Inchies

I have found a lovely challenge blog, the challenge, their 5th, is to use Inchies. Well how could I resist..The smaller the piece the more I like it. So I made an atc using my new Lynne Perrella stamps, then I made 2 Inchies from the same set of stamps and added them to the atc, I also highlighted a few areas with a damp paint brush and distress ink pads.
You can find the challenge here http://happycamperscc.blogspot.co.uk/

Craftymess Challenge Blog

We still have a week for you to enter our challenge blog...myself and my teamies would love to see you enter. You can find us here    http://craftymesschallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/
The theme is "Choose a Country" so plenty of scope there....do  pop a long, a great prize is up for grabs for the winner.

Vintage Twinchie

I'm so pleased with this little stamp as it's the perfect size for Twinchies and for Christmas Gift Tags...again its a new stamp and this is the first time I've used it.I used distress ink for the colour and black for the image, my 2 colours for the Twinchie Challenge over at   http://twinchie-twinchiehotmaillive.blogspot.co.uk/  I've lifted the image a bit by stamping the main image again and slightly curling the wings.

My Altered "Vintage" Peg

I just couldn't resist making another altered peg, they are fun to do. For this one I used my treasured Graphic45 papers, they are just so gorgeous.
I have added a couple of roses,a couple fronds of little pearls and a stickpin, just a little bit of ribbon too.
I am entering this in to Lindsays "Alter it" challenge....http://lejdesignschallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/

"Faces" Atc

My little corner of the world is taking a battering with the weather,so much damage caused by high winds and rain,to make it worse I've just heard the weather forecast and it's going to get worse throughout the day....I feel so sad for the people that have had their homes flooded.
On to my post, this my entry for the challenge over at  http://funwithatcs.blogspot.co.uk/  The theme is faces and I had just the stamp for that, the same one I was playing with yesterday.
These stamps are not what I am used to using, but I have seen some great examples by other crafters using them and wanted to have a go myself...so I'm still at the experimental stage, never to old to learn, lol.

A Twinchie and an Atc

Well, unusually for me this is a double post...I have been having a play with some new little stamps...I fell in love with this one as soon as I saw it. It is slightly bigger than the size of a Twinchie, but still looks okay.I have coloured her beret to make it stand out a bit more....
I would like to enter this Twinchie in to the challenge over at.....http://twinchie-twinchiehotmaillive.blogspot.co.uk/

So on to the 2nd post...

I know this stamp may not appeal to everyone, but I love it.
Its from a set by Lynne Perrella at Paperartsy. These style of stamps always hold a fascination for me, it's amazing what little images you can see within them.
This atc I made for the crafting group I am in...I won the daily challenge there last night, so today I get to judge as well as set the theme for today's challenge...which is "Wings & Things" of course I can't enter my own challenge, but made the atc to show how wings can be used in a different way.

I must say a big Thank You to all that take the time to visit my blog and leave me such lovely comments...my poor little blog has felt very unloved....

My "Textured" Vintage Tag

This is what I made for the daily challenge over at the Crafting Group I belong to. First I adhered the material to the mount board Tag, then I covered it using the gold acrylic paint. Before the paint had time to dry I heated it until it started to bubble slightly. Making sure the paint was dry,I then used a watermark versa ink pad and swiped that all over the tag, finally adding clear embossing powder and heating that up to seal the whole piece...it also gave the tag a lovely shimmer.
To finish I added the vintage image and the ribbon and gold lace.....I did win the daily challenge in the group with this piece, woohoo!

Trio of Twinchies

I've been feeling chilly all day to day,but I did have to pop out this afternoon and the air is definately colder than it was yesterday...wonder if we will get a white christmas?
On to my Twinchies, having a fun time making these at the moment, I had intended making some brooches, but again got side-tracked,easily done when I'm in my craft room.
Apologies for the blue tinge again to my photo, I can only put it down to the light...there are a lot of trees here and a high hedge,so if anything I would have thought it would be a green tinge, lol

I love this Twinchie

I so love this twinchie...not the best of photos I'm afraid, but the light, although bright enough, seems to be casting a blue hue over my photo.
I made this twinchie during  tuesday night,I couldn't sleep,so thought I'd catch up on some craft work and have a play with the new stamps I bought from Paperartsy.
The image here is just part of one of a Lynne Perrella stamp, unfortunately this photo dosen't do justice to this piece,as it dosen't show the triple embossing, although the little bit of glitter I used during the heat embossing has shown up quite well.

(Hello Jenny...I'm waving,lol...xx)

Nursery Rhyme Character

Here is my DT piece I made for this fortnights challenge over at.....http://craftymesschallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/.....The theme "Nursery Rhyme Characters" was chosen by fellow teamie Moira, who unfortunately is leaving the team when this challenge ends. I will miss having her on my team, however I will still be working with her on another blog's DT.
As you can see from my photo,I have used a delightful vintage "Little Bo-Peep" image for my digi scrap page.
I hope you will all pop along and maybe enter our challenge ,there is a fabby prize from Crimson Cloud up for grabs for the winner.

A Trio of Circus Atcs

Just when I try to get on top of my crafting, something happens. I've been feeling really rotten for a few days now. I'm really trying not to give in to it....but 2 days of   blurred vision ( off and on) really affected my crafting and everything else I wanted to do,so it eventually forced me to go to bed a few times.Thankfully that seems to have passed off, just the feeling of exhaustion now.
So on to my atcs....these were made for the swap I run each month over at Craftymess Group on Facebook. The theme was "Circus" so that gave me the opportunity to use my £2:50 Tim Holtz stamp I bought a few weeks ago at Kettering Craft Show, such a bargain,in fact I bought 2 stamps, the other one is a christmas one, perfect size for atcs. The middle atc isn't a Tim Holtz image, for that one I used a couple of the circus stamps from Artistic Outpost,it's a really great set of stamps too.

Vintage Bottle Top

Just a quick post to add my Vintage Bottle Top. This was an entry I made for the daily challenge in the Craftymess Group. The theme was "use a bottle top", so I stamped and coloured an angel image from Crafty  Individuals, then cut it to size to fit inside the bottle top. Then I added the little silver heart that is encrusted with little pink rhinestones.Using glossy accents I fill the bottle top, enough to cover the heart. The photo shows its not quite dry...it is a lot clearer and brighter when completely dry.

Monochrome Block

I'm going to try and update my blog this weekend with all the stuff I've made over the last week or so.
Here is a block, another from a rubber stamp, that I altered for the crafting group I am in on facebook.I have used this rather gorgeous clear stamp from Inklylicious...another stamp I just had to have, lol. The theme was black and white so I knew this stamp would show up really well on white card. The whole block was painted in black matt acrylic paint before I added the image and embellishments.

Above or Under the Sea

Well the Challenge is under way over at http://crafty-emblies.blogspot.co.uk.....and although I had several ideas for my DT make, I decided to make this framed scene.
The frame is recessed  ( which I painted then  distressed )  which gave me the space to add some shingle and dinky little shells behind the glass. For the background I used my rubber stamp, shaded it with distress inks, then used it to seal the frame. Finally I added those 2 adorable Seahorses from Crafty-Emblies to finish the make...hope you like it.

Trick or Treat Sweet Bags

An unusual project for me...well it was think of something quick or make a card...so I came up with these sweetie bags.
This is my DT make for   http://craftymesschallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/
We were given 4 images to use from.....http://robynsfetish.com/.....to use for our Halloween theme, which was chosen by teamie Tracey.
I honestly wasn't sure what to make,my first thought was to make some little flags, using the images and then putting the flags in green jelly....but in the end I went for the sweetie bag. I printed off the images in mini size and coloured them in using pencils, then cut them out and added them to the orange and black bag labels that I also made.
My grandson, who is staying with me at the moment has his eye on the sweetie bags......he's 19 by the way, lol.

The Sewing Lady

It's time for the new challenge over at   http://crafty-emblies.blogspot.co.uk/  do pop over and have a look at this blog, not only are there some stunning makes by the Design Team, there is also a fabulous prize on offer.
This is my DT entry.....I had so much fun making this, it was like furnishing a dolls house, lol.
I have used a Tim Holtz configuration box and decorated each individual box with vintage papers. Once I'd finished that I put all the boxes back in to the base and used washi tape around all the edges that would show through the lid.
Now comes the fun bit...most of the Crafty Emblies I have painted, for the sewing machine I have used  black and gold, 2 pairs of scissors, one gold, one silver and a few of the buttons in blue and a couple of buttons are just inked. The gloves are painted in a pearl paint and once dry I used a lace stamp and black stazon ink to give them a lacey effect....although it dosen't show up to well in the photo.
So while I was waiting for the paint to dry, I started to fill the boxes, using mini cotton reels ,material ,pins and those fabby crafty-emblies dress forms.
I then added the lid, which I have edged in washi tape, finally adding the gorgeous box feet and a paper lady I cut out from an old calender.
I hope you enjoy looking at my Sewing Lady, I thoroughly enjoyed making this project.

Live Life Twinchie

Well, here I am again with another Twinchie. This one is for the challenge over at  http://twinchie-twinchiehotmaillive.blogspot.co.uk/  The theme for this fortnight is to "Add a Stamp", so I set off to my craft room this afternoon and made 3 Twinchies using some of my smaller stamps...I'll be posting the next 2 over the next couple of days.
I love this stamp,it's perfect for Twinchies, being a 2" square. I inked the background with Mustard Seed distress ink then stamped the image. I then cut around the image and glued it to the board Twinchie. I like making them this way as they don't warp.Once that was done I used a red whisper pen to highlight the little girls scarf and coat.
Thank you to all of you that drop by my blog and leave me a comment...I always appreciate your visit...xx

Autumn Twinchie No2

Here is my 2nd Twinchie for the challenge over at
For this twinchie I used a section of a larger stamp from Artistic Outpost...I used distress inks for the background, coloured the house with whisper pens, then to give an autumn look to the tree I dabbed distress inks in mustard seed and rusty hinge and crushed olive. It is amazing just how much you can put on a 2"x2" square piece of board.
I'm loving these fun challenges, you are allowed to enter 3 Twinchies per challenge., I still have one more to make....

A Vintage Atc

Firstly I must Thank all my  followers, I'm so pleased you have sign up to follow my new blog. As some of you already know I closed my last blog down due to technical issues....so although I have all my images, I have lost a lot of my followers.

Well it's the early hours of sunday morning and I should really be in bed as I'm going out for a few hours tomorrow, what's the betting I'll over sleep, lol.
This is an atc I made for the craft group I belong too, I made it for the daily challenge. The theme was "Make a Vintage Atc"...well I couldn't pass by that challenge could I...
So I have used one of my freebie vintage lady images, I think this one is gorgeous. I used some Graphic 45 paper, I cut around half the circle so when I glued the backing paper to the atc blank I had a pocket that I could slot a mini envelope and notes in to. Finally I added the image.

Thank you all so much for dropping by my blog...I love having you visit...xx

Altered Stamp Block "Steampunk"

Well,I've certainly not posted twice in one day for a very long time...must be something in the water today, lol.
I came across a brand new challenge today and just had to enter it. The challenge, which is over at  http://steampunkjunkies.blogspot.co.uk/  says to make anything so long as it has the steampunk theme. I rummaged around and found some old wooden blocks that were left over after I removed the rubber stamp.
First I covered the block with papers from (Olde Curiosity Shoppe) by Graphic 45, then used distress ink on all the edges. Using the same pad I used a few of the tabs to decorate the block. To finish I added some of the cogs and top piece from...http://www.crafty-emblies.com/ but the chain and gorgeous bird cage is from my stash.
Thank you to all that drop in to look at my work...I really appreciate your visits and comments...xx

Autumn Twinchie

Autumn,my favourite time of the year...so I couldn't resist entering the twinchie challenge again this fortnight over at   http://twinchie-twinchiehotmaillive.blogspot.co.uk/  I love this stamp with it's bare trees from Inkyliscious, although this image is only part of the stamp.
I used distress inks for the background, desperately tried to make the sky look less blue, the result looks like there's about to be a thunderstorm, lol.
I'm allowed 3 entries to this challenge,so I will make a couple more Twinchies.
Thank you for dropping by my blog and leaving me your lovely comments...x
