Anything but a Card

Time for another fabby challenge over at Rhedd and Rosies.....a great theme, chosen by me, "Anything but a Card"

This is my design team piece, my hand stitched Vintage Bag. Ideally I wanted to make it using Burlap, but couldn't source it locally, so had to go with what I had in my stash, which was hessian. First I hand stitched all the lace, then added the muslin lining before making it in to a bag. The image on the front I printed on to image transfer paper, then ironed that on to some very soft cotton cloth, using a thin piece of wadding to pad the image slightly, I then added another layer of cotton cloth. The lace I dipped in cold coffee to get the right colour,as well as dipping the tape. Finally I added the bead trim and buttons and added that piece as a front pocket,I also teased some threads from the muslin to make the whole piece look slightly shabby.
All the photos were printed on photographic paper and were all free images that I have saved in my library over the last couple of years...the pretty piece of paper with Bencross on it was a freebie from Astrid McClean....she has some gorgeous images that she offers as freebies, she is also an amazing crafter too.

My Layered Vintage Tag.

Seems ages ago since I last blogged...I have been crafting, but not posting much because it's mainly been design team work.
But I did take time out today to make a Tag for one of my favourite blogs....Tagalong.

The theme this week is "Layers"....so I have plenty, if you include the backing paper I have covered the tag with, there are 12 layers. The bottom section of the tag is actually a pocket, which I made from a spare piece of the backing paper and then added layers to that.

Watch the Birdie...

Another great theme over at CraftyHands challenge blog has just got under way. The theme is "Heat or Dry Embossing"...you may even want to do both.
There's an amazing prize on offer too, by the blog owner Tonya...she is giving a set of  3 different sized Heart Punches by X-Cut...well worth entering the challenge for.

Gone are my days of using a light box and embossing tools...the hours I used to spend doing that...then along came the embossing machines...so much easier, although I don't use my Big Shot that much to be honest.
So this is my design team piece for the challenge, a butterfly embossed background, highlighted with distress inks, Evergreen Bough and Tattered Rose....the cage was inked with Evergreen Bough, then I stamped over it with a script stamp. I've added a little bit of icicle stickles to the rose,to give the effect of dew,but it dosen't show up too much.

Old Book Pages for my Moo....

What a fabulous theme going on over at Moo Mania...I happened to come across this blog this morning when I accidently deleted all the challenge blogs off of my blog. I decided after I remembered what I could of my deleted blogs to search for a few "different" ones and Moo Mania popped up.

For the folk that know me,they will know I enjoy working with small pieces and this challenge blog is just perfect for me...so I set too and made a "Moo" today. Such dinky things they are too, measuring 2.8cms x 7cms. Of course they can be added to other art work or creations, but for this one I wanted it to stand alone.
I covered my Moo with old book paper, a page torn out of a very old book I found in a junk shop, then I swiped it with gesso, once dry I smudged Broken China Distress ink over it, left it to dry for a while, then stamped some grasses for the back ground. The young couple is a stamp from Paperbag Studios and I stamped that on some cream paper, which I then coloured with water colour pencils. I used a random postmark stamp from my stash before adding the main image...finishing it off with a piece of raffia.

Pink Love....

What a great theme for the Tagalong Challenge this week...I have had a restless night so in the end got up and did some crafting. I not only managed to make a tag, I also got a design team project made too.
Here's the Tag I have made for this challenge...I just adore this lovely sentiment.
It reads......
"It's the simple joys, the simple pleasures the heart remembers and dearly treasures"

The stone arch stamp is a new one I bought last week at Westpoint in Exeter from Inkyliscious and the sentiment and the couple are from a set of stamps by Paperbag Studios.

Think I'll try and grab an hour or so of sleep...the awful storms we have been having have quietened down so should make sleeping a little easier....until the weekend when more storms are forecast.

Altered Shell House

Well, another restless night for me,so I decided to get up and update my blog with my latest creation that I finished sunday evening.
My friend had given me a wooden thimble holder that she found in a charity shop last year, I think she said it cost £1 she said she  thought of me and bought it.

( measures 23cms x 11cms)

So I sanded it down, gessoed it, then painted it with white acylic paint. Once it was dry I then sanded it ever so slightly and then swiped it with chocolate brown acrylic paint, which I then lightened using a baby wipe.
While it was drying I sorted through all my shells and drift wood and shingle to put in to the compartments.

Once all the compartments were filled, I then cut some acetate to fit and adhered it in place using hot glue. Finally I added some scrim, shells, string, some orange mesh (the mesh bag from my oranges) and some small pieces of driftwood  as decoration...
I am entering this in to these challenges.....
