A First for Me....

How about this...an Altered Door Stop....

I saw them in a shop in town and thought I could do something with them, they were cheap too and made from wood!

So, for this door stop I sealed the wood, then gave it 2 coats of Kaisercraft Antique Cream acrylic paint, it really is a gorgeous paint to use.
Once the paint was dry I used gilding wax to highlight the edges a bit.
Setting it to one side, I then had to hunt around for some images, I already had an idea in my head, eventually I found these.

I applied the images with modge podge matt, once dry I then gave it 2 coats all over, allowing it to dry in between coats.
Finally I added the beads, ribbon and flower....I'm quite pleased with the look. I have another doorstop that's all ready to decorate....can't wait to get that one done now...

I wonder now if I've set a trend....as I said a first for me and I've not seen any others in the crafting world, mind you I could have been looking in the wrong place, lol.

My Paper & Ink Stack

Would you believe it's almost 5:30am and I've not been to sleep yet.....I will probably grab a couple of hours once I have finished this post..
I treated myself to 3 paper trays and 4 ink trays from Fernli Designs. They are all stackable and come in several sizes. The ones I have used here are for 6" x 6" papers and the rectangle ink pads like Versamark, Archival, Aridondack etc.

I glued all the pieces together ( they all come flat packed ) which is very easy to do. Once the glue was dry, ( I used PVA Glue )  I painted all the trays in Kaisercraft  matt black acrylic paint twice, once dry I then added a coat of modge podge to protect the paint from scratches etc.
I left every thing over night to thoroughly dry out and the next day I glued all the trays to make a stack.
Again, leaving the glue to dry thoroughly.
I decorated each stack with the Graphic45 Typography papers and then using Fernli Designs shapes ( shown in the first photo ) I made embellishments by covering them in the same papers and adhering them to the stacks with hot glue.

I am so pleased with they way these look and the fabulous part about these products is that they can be added to as and when you need to.
Although I didn't take a photo of the back sections, they are both papered in G45 papers, but not embellished with the wood shapes.

Pretty little Egg Box

Happy weekend to you all...dull and overcast in my little area in the world, but it's still warm...not too long though and autumn will be along with all its beautiful colour changes, can't you tell that Autumn is my favourite time of the year...anyway, enough of my ramblings,  here is my....

                                         Altered Egg Box

I painted my box in Lilac Acrylic paint, then when dry I sprayed it with Lilac Glimmermist, not that it actually shows in the photo.
Once dry I added some Graphic45 paper, cutting a fancy edge on each side. I then decorated it applique, oraganza ribbon, an image and some flowers.

It's a challenge I set in my group on Facebook HERE...the winner will get a prize and if a member decorates the inside of their egg box, they get their name entered twice in to the draw.
So as the host I thought I should decorate my egg box.
I'm going to enter this Altered Egg Box in to the challenge over at Altered Eclectics

Such Style

Just popped in to show you my Altered Peg...it's for the challenge over at Crafty Individuals.
The August  theme is Fashion/Style and you must use one of their products...fortunately for me I have a fair few of Crafty Individual stamps and this fashion plate is one of them.

First I stained the sides of the peg with Aged Mahogany distress ink. Secondly I used some pale patterned backing paper, which was quite thick and stamped the image twice.

I then cut the centre strip for the main part of the peg and then used the unstamped scrap for the underside and back areas.
I coloured and trimmed the 2 ladies and set them aside, while I added the lace, scissors and top frame.

To finished I used aged mahogany to distress the edges of the peg and then attached the ladies.

Postcard Art

Here I am again, no wonder the weather has turned to rain,lol...
Just popped in to share my Postcard with you all...I made it for the Sunday Postcard Art Challenge Blog...

The theme is Animals and as I don't usually use animals in my crafting so I thought this was a good challenge for me to enter.
The image of the little girl with her pets is a vintage freebie and the bird on the branch ( very yellow I'm sorry to say ) is a stamp by Kaisercraft that I coloured in.

Two Faced!...lol

Happy sunday everyone,  it's lovely and sunny, but nice and cool too, suits me just fine...
Just sharing my Tag with you...it's for a challenge, not entered  for a week or so now as I have been busy doing swaps and design team work...all of which I can't post just yet.

I used a large Inkylicious stamp for the back ground as it had a face in the corner, then using another Inklylicious stamp I made a topper...so hence the title "Two Faced"...lol. The sentiment is from a different set of stamps.
This is my entry for the challenge over at  TAGALONG CHALLENG
Their theme this week is "Faces"

Home Sweet Home....

For my design team piece for the August challenge over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit I altered a little birdhouse.
The house itself was  rather rough, so it took a bit of sanding down. Once done I gessoed it then painted it twice in cream acrylic paint. At this point I wasn't that keen on the look,so out came some backing papers and I ended up papering the back and both sides of the birdhouse.

I then sanded and painted up a wooden candle stick. Once both pieces were dry I used  turquoise  paint to add a splash of colour. After that was dry I glued the house and the candle stick together and started embellishing the whole piece.

I had a bit of a job finding a couple of birds that were the right size in comparison to the house, I eventually found some in a gift shop local to me.

Once finished the whole piece stands 11" (28cms) high and 4" (10cms) wide.

You can find the challenge here at.....Rhedd's Creative Spirit......do pop over for a lookie, it is for altered art only....and there is a fabulous prize up for grabs from Fernli Designs too...
