Titanic....Sunday Postcard Art

I've entered the challenge over at Sunday Postcard Art today....the theme is " Titanic "
I must admit I did find the the theme difficult as I wasn't sure what style I wanted to go with...in the end my printer decided that for me as I ran out of ink half way through printing some images!

So I ended up making a digital postcard instead...hope you like it.
So if you fancy challenge, why not pop over to

What's the buzz?

This will surprise you all...I have made a card. Now you know I don't make cards that often, so when I do I always feel a sense of achievement..I know it sounds silly as I used to be a card maker, well quite a few years ago now....
I made this card especially for the challenge over at Artistic Outpost using the PaperBoy set of stamps.

I used 2 stamps, using the masking technique for the main image, I wanted to kept that in monochrome so the paperboy with his coloured hat  and jumper would really stand out. The sentiments and words I mounted on the off cuts of the main brown card and added them to the card.

Here's another view of the card, this time on the easel...

So this is my entry for the challenge over at

Go Tag Thursday Tag # 2 "Time"

Just dropping today to share my 2 Tags that I have created...
The Go Tag Thursday Challenge runs every week, thursdays at 6am until midnight wednesday.
The theme this week is "Time"
I hope you will pop over for a look and maybe enter the challenge...the rules are simple, any tag,any medium, just follow the theme, or your interpretation of it...and you can enter as many times as you wish...

                                     Summer-Time Tag

For this Tag I used Rubber Dance Stamps for the images and all other pieces are from my stash

It's Time

I used a Kasiercraft Clock Collage stamp, I've had it for ages, so it was nice to be able to use it.
I coloured the clocks and once dry went over them with glossy accents.
Once that was completely dry I kind of pressed a few of the clocks to give a slight crackle effect, it will show better if you enlarge the image.

Hope to see you over at the challenge, which you can find here

Nautical Altered Board Book

Here we are, another month has passed and we are now in to June...hopefully for some, the sun will shine as it is the start of our summer, for me I prefer the cooler months...
The challenge has been set over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit...as always altered art / mixed media / recycled projects only....definitely no papercrafts.
My project this month is an Altered Board Book...and I decided on a Nautical theme.

I took several photo of my progress with it, so hopefully you will draw inspiration from them...
The book was a charity shop find, a little dogged eared, but overall quite sound, especially the spine of the book.

I would normally tear away the printed layer on each page, but the pages weren't overly thick, so I just sanded them down a bit to roughen them up so they would tolerate the glue/ mod podge.

I glued the 2 pages either side of the centre to each other and left them to dry over night.

The next stage was to add some torn book pages and some die cut chicken wire shapes...once they were glued in place I then went over with a coat of gesso.

I covered both pages with white tissue paper and mod podge...and left it to dry overnight.
It was at this point I realised I would have done better to have added the chicken wire die cuts after the tissue stage...lol.

Time to add some colour...so I brushed on some blue acrylic paint and wiped over some areas with a baby wipe...dried that using my heat tool....

Time to add some green paint...again wiping back with a baby wipe and drying with the heat tool.
I dry brushed some white paint over the green to lighten it a little more.

Time to play with the sprays...the green spray is a chalk one, which I had to decant in to another bottle...I used that very lightly as my board was beginning to become too green...I then sprayed the Ocean Blue by Docrafts...that gave an amazing shimmer and covered really well and I didn't have to decant that spray either!
I did dab some areas with a  baby wipe so the green would show through.
I dried as before then went all over with the shimmery white spray...again drying with my heat tool.

For the left side of my book I stamped this fab image ( Rubber Dance Stamps) coloured her and cut her out...I assembled some nautical embellishments around her and then glued everything in to place...the grass effect was created by using some type of mesh. I've had it in my stash for years, an orange strip and a green strip, I can't remember where I got it from...anyway, I shredded some pieces out of it to create the grass.
Using some of my Crafty Individual stamps I added the birds and the verse.

The right side of the book I decided to use a bigger stamp  by Impression Obsession, which I coloured and then distressed the edges...I layered that over some muslin...finally adding some nautical embellishments.

Hope you like my Altered Board Book....don't forget,if you fancy a challenge, then I would love to see you over at

Little Boxes.

The first of the month sees a new challenge over at Altered Eclectics....as always altered art & mixed media only, definitely no papercrafts.
My design team project this month was to sort through my craft stash and make use of some items that I've had what seems like forever,lol...
So I chose two boxes to alter, both completely different....

The Blue box turned out really well, it's the papaermache type box and the paint adhered to it really well. I loved the fact that I could add something in the window, which I protected using a square piece of acetate. I added a few flowers ( I dotted some Rock Candy on the flowers to add more interest ) and wire coils and finished it off with an Inkylicious stamped sentiment.

The little Pink Box...well things didn't quite go to plan with that one..it took a fair amount of prepping and painting as the edges were pretty rough and the grain of the wood caused slight ridges on the lid, despite all the sanding down.
I used Rose Pink for this box and then lined it with a rose patterned paper. The stamp I used for the sides and lid is from the same single stamp by KaiserKraft,  I just used different sections of it for the sides.
To finish I rooted through my trillions of buttons until I found a nice fancy one.
So if you fancy a challenge why not pop over to the challenge here at
